HI

I was hoping some of you more experienced fishos could recommend a couple of lures to tow behind my yak. I would be hoping to pick up a Snapper or maybe a Kingy. I will just be trolling around bays and headlands with water 6 to 15 metres

Cheers

8m RMG scorpion. 125 or 150mm. Redhead tends to be the go-to colour.

Absolutely ... Rapala CD9 or larger in Qantas Colour ... can be doing a couple of k an hour and they still hit it.

When I'm trolling those sort of depths my goto lures would be a sebile koolie minnow 118LL and a rapala taildancer TDD9 or 11. Best colours for the koolie are pilchard ND2, O or natural shiner. In the taildancer I've done well on blue or silver flash and flash perch.

If at the shallower end around 6m the TDD7 and berkley 10cm/4m silver black frenzies also go well.

I'm with fishane. Coolies all the way. Rmg are a brilliant lure but towing an 8m diver is like pulling a drogue

Another vote for the koolies here.
102LL in LV is my pick of them.
Upgrade the hooks to singles or decent trebles, the ones they come with are shit

I've always had success with 8m rmg scorpion. Red Head is good, and other colours also work. Some days though they only want soft plastics, so keep in mind if they're not taking hard bodies, try a softy. Something else to bear in mind is to add 2m to you're diver's stated depth so that you make sure you clear the bottom. I've had so many snags once it gets down to 1m or so over the stated depth. :)

Berkley Mungo shallow, medium and deep divers in mackerel, pilchard and mullet pattern are great.

$10 a pop and built like a tank.
