2015 Hobie Outback

Post by Craigss21 » Sun Jan 04, 2015 8:56 pm

Well after ordering the 2015 Hobie Outback in September I finally picked her up yesterday after getting home from Xmas holidays.

I didn't get too many extras but did splash out on the sounder.

Rushed around this morning and ripped down Xmas lights and mowed the lawns etc so I could take her out this arvo.

Unfortunately I didn't catch anything but I mainly spent most of the time just playing around with the sounder.

For me without a doubt the best part is the new and improved mirage drive.

Some pics below.

How much water did you cover over the 7hr day? I'm interested to hear as I'm looking into what yak will suit me. How does this yak handle a calm sea?

Hi mate, I know this question was directed at me. I have had about a 5 hour session offshore in it. Small swell (about 1 meterish). Went from moffatts beach to brays rock, out to the blinker back to brays and then back to moffatts. I don't know how far that is but would imagine it is about 8-10kms all up.

No dramas for me at all with that. Comfortable and relatively dry. I am very unfit and it didn't worry me at all. Mind you I was taking it very easy and fishing a lot.

Cheers mate, that's great to hear. I'm picking one up the same color as yours tomorrow from Rod Bendings in Inverloch. After a lot of reading and time on the net, I decided that the out back will be the best one for me. I appreciate your feedback.

Ha. The old DR doesn't get anywhere near the attention she used to before the outback showed up!
