Some nice stuff going on there SF. I reckon the day hatch location is the perfect spot for a fish box. Only hassle we have here is tuna just won't fit in the day hatch. :D

I assume you've got a hatch into the side for the transducer? Why don't you bundle up the extra cable and put it in the same area to get it out of the rod chute? I just zip tie mine to keep it neat and let it sit in there. Do you just tuck your battery under the seat? Can I suggest you attach your paddle leash to the front handle as I suspect it will take a lot more load than the paddle keeper.

And I like that you've got several mulloway as standard bling on your yak. ;)
I caught a hairtail. Weird looking phucker.

the rear hatch is around 25L - 30L so its excellent for around 7 good Snapper but its a tight fit..ya gotta curve the last two in....I tested this theory a few months ago...biggest was 54cm and smallest was 42cm...its my go to fish hatch on the EVO...ive only ever used the front hatch for large snook and mulloway....im not a BIGDOG fisho like ZED and MINNY and SALTI and CAV etc

Washing it out is a breeze with a sponge...all good

Yep ya right indie...SBT may not fit in there....
My EVO is one of the first three in country so its a hand mold ive been told and the transducer is right under my bum!...so is the batt box....all sikaflexed down nice and neat...however my cable has corroded out and im left with a stuck transducer to the hull..got some ideas to get rid of it? ha!
Great suggestion on the paddle keeper being on a handle/....look closer..the paddle connector is on the paddle keeper and is terminated back to the main hatch around the splash guard...ive been in a couple of hang onto ya paddle moments and its held good...but good point on the other option indeed...

PS..happy bday bloke

New Downscan FF install

Post by stealthfisha » Wed Dec 24, 2014 3:54 pm

Well i decided to bite the bullet and get a new sounder
Chose the Lowrance Elite 4x hdi. ...
You can switch between 83 / 200 / 400 /800khz ability of several screen options etc.
During next year in considering cutting and glassing a universal transducer recess. .Until then ill go with what i used to do back in 2008/2009 and have a temp mount when on the water. I also want to know what the water
Temp is and guarantee a faultless install

You need:
marine grade velcro
Alloy strap
Marine stainless zip ties

Do a beach launch and once out slap this baby on in a few seconds and your off!....when heading back in and placing the sounder back inside..grab the transducer as well and whack it back inside as well....

simple and frickin effective

Stern Light / Control Box

Post by stealthfisha » Wed Dec 24, 2014 5:38 pm

Now ive been tinkering of late and also having a bit of fun too with a few XXXX for lube....

Now running a stern light for low light crap blah blah blah.

Destroyed both my lipo batteries...yep im a right dickhead...my 2400mah lipo was fully charged and so was j one night last week...i had a dumb moment and wanted to re do the conectors with banana clips....so i grabbed my carbon edged side cutter and you guessed it fuckin bang!...i cut though both wires. ...yep i made the circuit and one dead battery and i reached for another beer cause i just scared my ass half to death....

Second battery was a 5000mah lipo and i was drinking again and decided i wanted a toggle switch on my lid of the waterproof box....so i grabbed my trusty cordless drill and drove a hole right through the container and also the lipo...yep i left it inside and had another dickhead moment....this time no bang but fick me it discharged a very nasty gas....bad ju ju....anyway onto the stern light and control box

Stern light was easy...straight to the rear hatch and terminated....folds down when not wanted and folds up when needed...sort of like viagra...cables run through to the main hatch...terminates into a nice shiny plastic box outta the kitchen cupboard...she never used it anyway....

Then routed the sounder power back to it as well...bought waterproof toggles and wholla!....nah bullshit...wasnt that easy...took me three hours of trying to find out how to run both sounder and stern light through toggles and then to battery....damn!....took forever...now when im on the water i can control the electrics from the box...pretty good for me...

As for the big 7ah battery...yuk!
Im going back to lipo and ive promised myself to stay off the XXXX and tools

Innovative approach to the sounder and transducer mount mate, quality job. Nice way to spend Xmas eve as well, kitting out the EVO and having a few coldies, shame about the battery though.

Yep too true...waiting for the kids to wake up....damn?

Regardless of nay sayers.....imagine having 10 hours of solid use from one lipo the size of a large mars bar..
.yep...lipo is the go for me and no issues in all this time ....until i killed them....

Treated normally they will serve you well....

My main go to lipo is the zippy compact 5000mah
4s 25c....
4s is 4x cells delivering 14+volts...seems perfect for me
25c is the peak discharge delivery.....it can be higher no probs....

if you buy a genuine imax B6 multi lipo charger it does all batt types....once you type in what batt you got you press enter and it will do the rest... even SLA....then once it finished it will tell you!

Well today gave the new trans mount a crack...jesus bugga me dead!...
Night and bloody day!....image is like the bloody demo mode....schools of fish with arches with ping rate set to slow...with the downscan screen showing how many were underneath the kayak..
Ive really missed out...hats off to those that have done the downscan purchase long ago...i now know what ive been missing...damn!... :o
Those that dont own it that are not quite sure of a particular area looking for reef and broken structure...then in my opinion you cant go wrong for the extra $50 for downscan....and if ya dont like it switch screen and dont use it!...simple.... :D
sorry about the pics...did not realise flash cancelled it out and did not focus...next time ill grab some pics of a school underneath the yak ;)
