Carbon Gt470

Post by Rayl » Tue May 05, 2015 5:07 pm

Hi all, here`s my new toy a carbon Gt470.

I went for a test paddle two weeks ago up at DI and I was really impressed with the way the Dusta handled the surf, being the same hull as the Gt just without the deck changes I saw the carbon Gt and fell in love with it.

It came with the access holes cut ready for the sounder which made the install really easy.

I have been really happy with the Ericks kayak so far and it has been for a few paddles in which I was able to sit on 6-10km/hr which is faster than I thought it would be.

The internal storage is huge being able to store my paddle and 3 rods easily.

Cheers and thanks for looking :)

The thing is real purty mate. The carbon matting and clear finish of the hull is uber sexy. She will be stiff as a 15yo on his first date. This will make her heaps responsive during surf transits for sure. I love the the way this hull performs in the surf and yet is no slouch on the flat stuff, not easy to do when designing hulls.Love it.

Gorgeous yak. Looks the part all right.

25kg though for carbon/ Kevlar. Seems high.
cheers,

Fair enough, but it was built with an extra lay up in certain areas to strengthen it at someones request, still it is stiff.

Yep they're built like tanks these things. That's a decent weight saving on the fibreglass version, which is around the 30 mark. Ray, how's the entry of the rudder cables into the hull on yours? Are there grommets there to protect the hull?
Cheers, Sam

if you are the type of w$&ker that can't let it go for some reason I'd be more than happy for you to PM me for my address so I can head butt your F$&king face off. Fatbaldkayaker

Better do the ski justice and catch real fish to blood it - not like salti's pink breamski .
Reminds me of a Honey Badger in those colours ?

sweet looking ride .
