Sounds good. I'd like to see a reduction in weight though.

Hobie driving the market again with new features!
I wonder what an affordable price is?
While I can't afford to continuously upgrade I'd like to give one a test drive.

Binks (SA's Hobie dealer) at Somerton don't expect to see them for at least 2 months or even until early next year and believe they will be around $900 cheaper than the Outback i.e. their guess is around $2,500.

Re: Yet another Hobie kayak model ; Compass
its a real interesting feature set . I am really keen to hear how the hull performs as my hobie Pa12 kicks my but off shore in any short of chop but my revo 13 is just so much less user friendly from a pure fishing point but its like getting on a hot rod when I use it in comparison .
I had a little misadventure last week on my revo that would not have happened on my PA that I will share in a TR in a week or two when the snapper frenzy dies down .... .
I also like to know if the square hatch mod ala outback can be done .
I understand the front hatch was probably lost as a weight saving feature but it's something I would really miss.

Re: Yet another Hobie kayak model ; Compass
There are several posts on YouTube and in some of them they say the square hatch can be fitted. They also recon it cuts through the water better i.e. more like a Revo. The pedal system doesn't come with the reverse mechanism.yakkingbrendon wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 8:00 pmI also like to know if the square hatch mod ala outback can be done .
I like my Outback but must admit I would prefer this rudder set up i.e. as per your PA.

Re: Yet another Hobie kayak model ; Compass
I had 3 rudder tangles in a few hours recently fishing from my revo drifting baits in strong winds and current . never happens in my PA
Great idea to delete the reverse drive as most people I know who don't fish bream or mangroves struggle to justify the price difference and extra complexity those who want it can upgrade.
I also miss the dual steering handles on the PA .

Re: Yet another Hobie kayak model ; Compass
As a Revo 13 owner myself it is interesting to read comments. I've had a few rudder tangles, fallen out (couple of times), and still love it. Will the compass be a better fishing platform, probably. All round performance, who knows?
