Re: My New Ride - Mirage 583
Awesome looking machine, well jel! Would love a full on fishing version with fish hatch etc. I can never understand the obsession with speed and offshore fishing as I believe that sea worthiness should be the most important factor. There is heaps of debate about fishing from fast racing skis and the comparison to stealths etc. I would rather lose a knot and go for a Mirage hull which is still very fast and with fantastic ocean crossing, sea keeping abilities. The stealth pedigree derives from an almost flat bottomed ski with rocker, where as Mirage pedigree is steeped in expedition sea kayaking. I know what I would rather be on half way across Bass Straight!

Re: My New Ride - Mirage 583
Hi Rayl, Manta, I've had the Mirage for nearly a year and a half, so this is a bit of an old thread - but I had some really good catches - below are some old trip report links.
I've also had a ball messing around in the surf, without rods. The only thing I have yet to try, is accessing the back hatch whilst on the water - to see if I could store and retrieve a 2 piece rod there.

Ahh my bad thanks for the links
How do you secure your catch, just put them in front of your feet and tie them in?

I use a dry bag and stick the toothy end in first. It was a little difficult with the large Spanish, but generally it's easy to just have the larger fish lie under your legs. Anything up to 80cm fits in the gap in front of the pedals - with the tail waving about.
